While doing "an image a day” type of project Urlic tried to age his son in Photoshop an accidentally ended up creating his first genetic portrait (the first picture on our list). It was made by splicing together photographs of himself and his son.

Son/Father: Nathan, 7 & Ulric, 29

It is about adding highlights and shadows to enhance the look of the model. Bear in mind, this technique works better on light-colored eyes. As an example, let’s take a photo of Dita Von Teese.

On the 14th of February millions of people around the world celebrate "Valentine's Day", which is associated with the name "Valentine". In fact this holiday is honoring one or more early Christian martyrs named Valentinus and it was first established by Pope Gelasius I in 496 AD.

The day first became associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished. By the 15th century, it had evolved into an occasion in which lovers expressed their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering confectionery, and sending greeting cards (known as "valentines").

Alexa Meade is a talented artist whose work lies at the intersection of painting, photography, performance, and installation. What you are about to see, are not paintings on canvas! These are real photographs! Alexa paints with acrylics directly on human flesh creating the illusion of painterly portraits.

When I first saw her works, I thought that these are ordinary photographs edited in Photoshop. When I realized that this effect was achieved by painting directly on people, I was totally amazed. As Alexa says, she paints the surfaces of the human subjects, the material objects, and the architecture of the installations so as to collapse the subject, foreground, and background into one continuous plane. Visit her official flickr to see more breathtaking works.
